In each episode we hear personal testimony from people who are worried or hopeful or both about what the future means for them and their work. All contributors are speaking in a personal capacity, and from the heart. They reflect on their own experiences of life in 2020 - all recorded at different points over the past six months - but all thinking more widely about the implications for the future. Some names have been changed. In this episode, I’ve reached out to people who know quite a lot about jobs and money. If the worst-case scenarios come true, After Corona, Britain will have an extra 2 million unemployed people and an extra £370bn of public debt. There are raging debates on whether offices are thing of the past, as businesses have surprised themselves working from home. It seems that half the country has used the money saved from commuting to pay off the credit cards, whilst the other half faces month after month of no income. What are the implications of this on the labour market, the types of jobs we value, the type of lives we want to lead, and the skilled professionals who were in good jobs but now find themselves cut loose? Answering my questions in this episode are Lisa - a careers coach for adults needing make a change; Emma - the director of a recruitment company specialising in flexible work; Roy - a financial advisor and host of The Retirement Gym podcast; and Dan - who balances life in the banking sector but is also known as social media influencer, Career Dad. How has lockdown been for them, and what are their expectations for life after corona? ---- Related links: Flexibility Matters - https://www.flexibilitymatters.co.uk/ The Retirement Gym - https://www.carpenterbox.com/retirementgym/ Career Avengers - https://careeravengers.com/ Career Dad - https://www.careerdad.co.uk/ --- Thank you to everyone who generously contributed their thoughts and expertise on this episode.
