In this podcast Richard Freeman has a conversation with Fiona Anderson about the opportunities and challenges for entrepreneurs in 2017, the role of start-up business incubators and whether the era of ever-expanding big corporates has come to an end. Fiona Anderson is Entrepreneurial Development Manager at NatWest bank, a new role created when the bank announced a multi-million pound partnership with Entrepreneurial Spark - the social enterprise founded in Scotland in 2012 with the aim of developing a new mindset and resilience in people starting their own businesses. Fiona has worked in banking with the RBS group for over 14 years, following roles in human resources in her native South Africa. Fiona’s work with Entrepreneurial Spark on the south coast has helped 300 businesses secure over £7m in investment since August 2015, in an area in which on average only 13% of new businesses tend to survive the first year.
