In this podcast Richard Freeman has a conversation with Tony Dillon about the world of entertainment law and the life of a media executive, being made to sing live on Channel 4 and of the critical need for good careers advice and mentoring in schools. For 20 years, Tony Dillon was one of the most influential lawyers and executives working in British media. Starting as the Production Lawyer on groundbreaking 90s TV programmes The Word and The Big Breakfast, Tony went on to become Head of Legal Affairs for many departments at the BBC and BBC Worldwide, including children’s entertainment, radio and music. Tony oversaw one the media industry’s biggest joint distribution ventures between the BBC and Woolworths before becoming Director of Legal and Business Affairs at Pact, the trade association for the independent TV, film and animation sectors. Now, alongside working as an executive coach, Tony spends his time volunteering with schools, teachers and young people as an acclaimed careers mentor - building strategic approaches to employability education with local authorities and the government-backed Careers & Enterprise Company.
